Improvement in State?s fiscal health: Gaur

MADHYA PRADESH has overcome its status of ?economically weaker state? and has been able to upgrade itself in the category of economically stronger states, Commerce & Industry minister Babulal Gaur said in Mumbai today.

MADHYA PRADESH has overcome its status of ‘economically weaker state’ and has been able to upgrade itself in the category of economically stronger states, Commerce & Industry minister Babulal Gaur said in Mumbai today.

Addressing a conference on “Investment opportunities in MP”, organised by Indian Merchant in Mumbai, Gaur claimed that the state government had received industrial investments to the tune of Rs 84,000 crore. “In just 30 months, the state has been able to improve its fiscal health,” he remarked.

Claiming that the state had improved in the power front by becoming self-sufficient in electricity production, the minister said in a year the state would be able get 1500 MW of electricity from its various power projects. On the occasion, Gaur claimed that a unit of Ambani’s had decided to invest Rs 2500 crore in MP towards supply of coal-bed methane gas from mines to small companies as fuel.

“In this month itself we’ve planned to hold a seminar in Mumbai to invite investors in the state,” Gaur informed. Principal Secretary (Industries) OP Rawat said MP, being situated at the centre of the country, has locational and logistical advantages.

‘Complete SEZ development work’
COMMERCE AND Industries Minister Babulal Gaur reviewed the industries and public undertakings under his jurisdiction and issued instructions to expedite the workings of the proposed Rs 27 crore Crystal IT Park to be set up in Indore, an Engineering Cluster at Govindpura industrial area (Bhopal), Regiment Garment Cluster at Jabalpur and Packaged Food Cluster in Chhindwara.

While reviewing the working of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Pithampura, Gaur issued instructions to complete its development work at the earliest so that investors could set up units without further delay. He instructed the officials concerned to explore possibilities for setting up of a sub-centre of the Engineering Cluster at Govindpura and at industrial area, Mandideep.
