An administrator by profession, a learner by nature, seasoned vocalist Mira Mathur is pursuing M.Sc. in Computer Science. Registrar of Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Mira is a postgraduate in Vocal and has developed two encyclopedia software in music and her own website too (www.musisoft.org). Remarkably, most artistes and critics are pooling in their efforts to promote her website as it is providing valuable information about various traits of art at one portal.

Remarkably, most artistes and critics are pooling in their efforts to promote her website as it is providing valuable information about various traits of art at one portal.
“The concept has been in my mind for long but not having a science background, I had to learn a lot. I don’t hesitate in asking from whom so ever I find suitable to answer my queries, may it be a college going student or a professional. I have already finished my work on violin, and vocals and the matter is available on the website. I am now working on Kathak and tabla”.
On what made her take up the task, she says: “Staying in tune with the times, I thought of learning computers and started taking lessons. After I had gathered optimum basic knowledge, I took a higher course in computers and decided to go for post graduate in the branch” she clarified.
She says, she establishes a balance in her professional and artistic duties through time management.
“I do not allow one of my responsibilities to clash with the other. When I am an administrator, I am not an artiste where as whenever I do my ‘riyaz’ (practice) I forget my office work. It is, however, a task because being a boss and a down to earth artiste does not go together. Moreover, I am presently so occupied with my studies in computers that I hardly find time for anything else. This provides me with a higher level of concentration” she added.
Answering how other artistes of various other fields would benefit by the site, she said “The website provides a link to the whichever artiste you want to know about and queries are answered by the artiste personally. In this way, the website is shared by both the artiste and the viewers”.
She concludes saying she aims to bring all the valuable information she had gathered during years of study and research to young aspirants.
