Unnecessary holidays in the name of elections, law and order and winter vacations are stated to be the cause of unfinished courses.

According to a random survey conducted at eight schools in Varanasi, courses of five schools were yet to be completed. Around 10 to 15 courses were still untouched.

Teachers of government schools are focusing on ‘examination-oriented’ study so that courses are complete before the examinations begin on March 4.

Government Queen’s College principal Dr Awadh Kishore Singh said the syllabus of classes X and XII was not yet complete, adding that unnecessary holidays were responsible for such a situation. He, however, hoped that the courses would be completed by the end of January.

Lecturer of Mathematics at CM Anglo Bengali Inter College Arun Niranjan Maulik said they would start revision work as soon as the syllabus was complete. He said they had chalked out a comprehensive strategy to ensure that students were prepared for the Board examination. They would, therefore, focus on selected chapters for better results, he added.

CM Anglo Bengali Inter College principal Dr Vishwanath Dubey said they were engaged at a war footing to ensure that courses were completed at the earliest and classes would be held throughout February.

Students are also working hard, giving additional time to self-study and private tuitions for better results.

Kshama, a student of Government Girls’ Inter College, hoped that the Hindi syllabus would be completed before the examination.

Rahul Tomar of CM Anglo Begali Inter College said teachers were making all efforts to finish the courses.

It may be noted that the academic activities of schools suffered for about 15 days in view of BJP leader Rajnath Singh’s dharna at the district headquarters demanding a CBI probe into Krishnanand Rai’s murder case recently.
