UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has named Mehr Khan Williams, an India-born Pakistani national, a deputy high commissioner for human rights.
UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has named Mehr Khan Williams, an India-born Pakistani national, a deputy high commissioner for human rights.

Khan Williams, born in India in 1945, has worked for the UN since 1976. She has held senior management positions in New York, Florence and Bangkok with Unicef and has served as acting director of the UN Information Centre in Sydney.
She currently serves as a special advisor to Carole Bellamy, the head of UNICEF. Khan Williams has also written extensively on development and human rights issues for the international media.
