Responding to members’ queries in the Rajya Sabha, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said India did not want Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka. “We will not like influx of refugees to Tamil Nadu because of a situation over which we have no control. It is your (Sri Lanka’s) responsibility to provide food, shelter and medicine to your displaced people,” Mukherjee said. Political adviser of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be in India by the weekend to discuss the issue, he said.
