Indian, Chinese artists perform for peace
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Panchsheel, artists from India and China sang patriotic songs and presented traditional dances.
Delicate Chinese fan dances blended with vibrant Bharatanatyam steps of India, as singers from Beijing and Delhi sang each other's songs for a future of peace, harmony and friendship between the two countries.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Panchsheel - the five principles for peaceful coexistence between India and China - a joint cultural evening was organized by the Chinese embassy in which artists from both countries sang patriotic songs and presented traditional dances at the Siri Fort auditorium here Friday evening.
"India and China share a large border. We must help each other and contribute to each other's success. Together we must work for peace and a bright future," said Hua Jundua, Chinese ambassador to India.
Noted Beijing singers like Teng Geer and Peng Liyuan enthralled the audience with soulful Chinese numbers. And singer Guo Junhua went a step further by lending her voice to a popular Hindi movie song.
Amazing tricks by nimble Chinese acrobats, the enchanting Peacock Dance inspired from India's national bird and the astonishing Sichuan Opera or the dance of changing masks, were performed as part of the evening.
"Chinese songs are very sweet and soft. They are nice to listen to," said Taruni Ittan, the Hindustani classical singer who sang the Chinese "Jasmine song" here.
"I have heard that you enjoy Chinese food in India. In China, we too have fast foods made with 'special Indian flavour'. Jackie Chan is popular here and we enjoy Indian movies in China too," said Guo Lizh, a Chinese businessman who was among the audience. "We are brothers. We all want peace."
And on the stage, Indian singer Shibani Kashyap and the Chinese singer Zhang Mi jointly presented the theme song "Hand in Hand".
Information and Broadcasting and Culture Minister S.Jaipal Reddy and former president Ramaswamy Venkataraman were present.
