Announcing this at an "Overseas Marketing Meet" on Thursday, PK Goyal, Executive Director of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, said the project will be operational by December this year.

"Regional centres will be set up in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. The call centres will have a unique number and people from all over the country can make use of it," he said.

Goyal said the activities of the call centre will include selling train tickets, tourism packages and carrying out hotel bookings.

To a question on the proposed Budget Railway Hotels, Goyal said the Railways have identified 100 locations while five tenders have been given out, with another five are to be given next week.
