Jaswinder Singh Mutta has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault at North Fitzroy on January 17, 2010.

According to News.com.au, Mutta reached Melbourne on Tuesday morning.

Melbourne Magistrates Court heard that the charges were originally laid on April 7, 2011.

Court documents state Mutta fled to India, and surrendered to the Punjab police in January this year after a warrant for his arrest was issued by Indian authorities.

According to the report, it is believed to be the first time an Indian national has been extradited to Victoria, and only the third time an Indian has been extradited to Australia.
