EXPRESSING CONCERN over internal and external threat to India’s security, Minister of State for Home Affairs Shriprakash Jaiswal on Saturday exhorted Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawans to be ready to face these challenges.
Jaiswal assured them that the whole nation was with the SSB and Army jawans.
Attending the passing out parade of 947 newly-recruited SSB jawans here at the SSB headquarters , Jaiswal highlighted the roles of SSB and para-military forces jawan and said in the changing political scenario in Nepal, the significance of the SSB had increased further as the SSB jawan were maintaining strict vigil on the movement at Indo-Nepal border.
He said enemy countries and anti-Indian forces were out to destabilise our economy.
On the occasion, Jaiswal also stressed the need for reviewing the Indo-Nepal treaty in the present political equation in the Himalayan Kingdom. He said according to the treaty we could close the India border to Nepal and the agreement on extradition of the criminals was the need of hours.
The Union government is sincerely in mood to review the Indo-Nepal treaty,” he said.
Jaiswal said the threat to India from Nepal side had increased as anti-national forces were very active in the Nepal soil and they wanted to damage Indian economy and internal security.
He said in this view government had decided to increase the battalion of SSB. At present 13 battalions were deployed at the border and in coming days seven more battalion would be constituted.
DIG SSB Tilak Kak highlighted the services of SSB jawans and raised the problems face by the SSB jawans. He demanded allotment of land for establishment of the SSB headquarters as at present the SSB headquarters was running from the Fertilizer Complex. Six trainees were awarded for their outstanding performance. They were Abdul Rafeeq, Chandan, Gopal Upadhyay, Raj Bahadur Yadav, Rajendra Kumar and Tilakraj.
Director General, SSB Lucknow Frontier Satyavart and other senior officials also attended the passing out parade and said that after the training the jawans would be deployed at the border where they would counter all the attempts of enemies to weaken the country.
