Russia's Marat Safin has pulled out of the Marseille Open because of a knee injury, the tournament's organisers said on Friday.

"He decided not to come here because he is nursing a knee injury and he said he is off form at the moment," a spokesman said.
World number two Rafael Nadal is expected to begin his season at the ATP event starting on February 13 after three months out with a persistent foot injury.
