Inter-school sports meet begins
CHIEF COMMERCIAL superintendent of NER, Ajay Pratap Singh, flagged off the three-day inter-school sports meet of English medium schools in Gorakhpur and Basti divisions run by Catholic Dioceses, on Thursday. The newly elected Bishop of Gorakhpur Thomas Turuthimattum was the chief guest on this occasion.

A parade and torch procession was taken out to mark the start of the meet, which was followed by the address of Father John, principal of St Basil School.
Children of Little Flower School, Gorakhpur, performed dance on this occasion and students of St Joseph School recited the welcome song.
Delivering his views on this occasion, Ajay Pratap Singh threw light on the importance of sports in life and said games were important for healthy development of mind.
He said that events like marathon, high jump, basketball and badminton would be the main attraction.
