Is don-turned-MLA controlling cops in Mehar case probe?
THE LUCKNOW police is a weakling or so it seems for, after succumbing to high-profile pressure in the Aashiana rape case, it now, seems to be under pressure from yet another influential don-turned-MLA in the Mehar Bhargava case.

The police had been waiting for a signal from top cops to initiate action against the gangsters who had shot at UP Congress Committee member Luv Bhargava’s wife Mehar on February 28 in Hazratganj. Mehar is battling for life at a Delhi Hospital.
The MLA is believed to have assured the cops that the assailants would surrender in court soon.
Significantly, the accused were identified the same day of the incident and it was established that the assailants were staying at gangster-turned-block pramukh KD Singh’s flat in Dilip Pur Tower building where the incident took place.
The cops had arrested Singh’s room attendant the same day in attempts to hush up the case.
However, the accused—Amit Singh and Sachin Pahari—who are hardcore criminals, were safe enjoying patronage by a don-turned MLA and KD Singh.
Police sources said the sleuths investigating the case had traced the whereabouts of the assailants after two days of the incident. Also, the cops had put KD Singh’s phone on surveillance and had collected the call details to know that the accused reportedly were in regular contact with the gangster.
The cops initially contacted KD Singh for interrogation but they soon realised the blunder committed by them. The don-turned MLA exerted pressure on Lucknow police soon after he came to know about the cops trying to quiz KD Singh. The MLA asked the cops to stay away from his cohort though he assured the top cops that KD Singh would ensure the accused surrendered in court soon. Since then the local police station has been waiting for the inquiry which is sent by the court after an accused applies to produce himself before the magistrate. However, when asked, the cops concerned claimed that they were hunting for the assailants!
