Later, addressing a gathering, senior leader of the DYFI Noori alleged that the role of the American president in his fight against terrorist activities was dubious since America was backing Israel in bombing Lebanon.
He also alleged that under the pretext of waging a war against terrorism, America was establishing its military bases in different countries.
Other prominent leaders who took part in the protest included district secretary Shekhar Bhartiya, Anil Singh, Md Akram, Rajiv Agrawal, Nabi Ahmad, Pratap Singh, Lala Panda and Bhim Singh.
Meanwhile, members of All India Anti-Imperialist Forum burnt the effigy of Israeli Prime Minister in protest against the continuous bombing of Lebanon by Israel.
Enraged, activists of the Forum gathered at Badachauraha Crossing and vent their ire against Israel by burning the effigy of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Forum city coordinator Valendra Katiyar led the agitation.
Members of the forum requested the Indian Government to exert pressure on Israel to withdraw forces from Lebanon and stop air raids on Lebanese cities.
The United Nations was also requested to intervene in the matter and end the conflict. The American government was also criticised for its support to Israel. “The Indian Government must snap all diplomatic relations with USA and Israel if air raids on Lebanese cities continues,” stated Katiyar. A memorandum addressed to Prime Minister was also handed over to the DM.
