Though rumours are that an 'arrangement' had been worked out with the BJP, Singh has refuted the allegation.
For the two top posts, the fight was between candidates supported by Congress. But one candidate was supported by the Gurgaon MP and another by MLAs Rao Dharampal and Sukhbir Kataria from Hooda group.
And all three candidates supported by Singh — Vimal Yadav, 32 (Mayor), Yashpal Batra (senior deputy mayor) and Parminder Kataria (deputy mayor) — came out victorious.
Kataria had been ousted from the BJP after he had decided to contest as an independent in the municipal election.
