ANAND MINJ, the bodybuilder from Bhopal, has become the most outstanding among the bodybuilders of the capital. Winner of a number of State- and national-level championships, Minj is working hard for the national event to be organised in March at Darjeeling, West Bengal. He and Vikram Rastogi have been selected from Bhopal to represent the State in the national championship.

Anand has been in bodybuilding for the last ten years. When asked about his success in the various championships, he said the honest labour and dedication brought him the championships. “Balanced diet and disciplined life are the foremost requirements for any bodybuilder to get success”, he said.

He proved that bodybuilding is possible after marriage also. “I got married six years back and have never felt any problem. In fact, it is a myth that bodybuilding is not possible after marriage”, he said confidently. Most of the bodybuilders achieved success after marriage. “Senior bodybuilders like Prasad at the national level and Malik Israr from Bhopal have proved that marriage is not a problem for a dedicated bodybuilder”, said Minj.

Popularly known as ‘Michael’ in the bodybuilder fraternity, Anand won ‘Mr India’ title in All India Civil Services Bodybuilding Championship held in Lucknow last year, ‘Champion of Champions’ title in District Bhopal Bodybuilding Championship organised in the capital on Sunday, ‘He-Man’ title and various others.

He said that there is an immense scope in bodybuilding. Bodybuilders have become the priority for the various modelling agencies, defense sector, film industry and others, he added.

For the beginners he said that they have to be cautious while choosing any gym or fitness club. “The beginners should select only professional clubs or gyms. A wrong exercise at the start of the bodybuilding could be harmful in the future”, he suggested. Government should also come forward in allowing only those gyms that have professional instructors, he added.

Where there is….
WHERE THERE is a will, there is a way. Anand has proved it. He is a government employee working from 11 am to 5 pm. Despite that he takes out time for four hours’ daily practice. “If you have the desire to become successful, no one can stop you”, said the 35-year-old.
