The Jammu and Kashmir government has banned all political rallies in the state for the next two days in view of the terrorist attack on a Congress rally in which seven people were killed and 22 were injured, an official spokesman said.

The ban order was passed by District Magistrate Sheikh Ejaz, he said.

The decision has been taken to ensure smooth conduct of the Prime Minister's visit to Kashmir during which he will hold the second edition of his roundtable conference, the order said.

People's Conference chairman Sajjad Ahmed Lone's rally to pay tributes to his slain father Abdul Ghani Lone would be the only one to be affected by the two-day ban.
