J&K Govt plans to set up overseas employment corporation
Government has asked the employment department to submit a comprehensive proposal for establishment of an overseas employment corporation in the state.
Jammu and Kashmir government plans to set up an overseas employment corporation to explore possibilities for jobs abroad for the local youth to help solve unemployment considered as one of the reasons for militancy in the state.

There are nearly four lakh educated unemployed in the state.
The sources said with little scope for government jobs, the state government is encouraging self employment schemes to tackle the growing problem of unemployment.
It has allocated Rs 1555.4 lakh for implementation of self-employment scheme in the state and asked the banks and other financial institutions to provide loans to youths for setting up small-scale units.
The sources said 5170 cases of self-employment were sponsored by the employment department during 2005-06, out of which the banks sanctioned 2214 cases and till date loans of Rs 2584.83 lakh has been disbursed to 1600 persons by various banks under the scheme.
The employment department, with the coordination of various agencies like Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Assam Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, have organised 49 recruitment rallies for youths of the state.
