The step was taken in view of unabated torrential rains lashing wide parts of Jammu and Kashmir triggering landslides on Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Leh national highways and other routes, an official spokesman said.

Without giving the number of stranded tourists, the spokesman said the control room units have been established at the tourist reception centre, Srinagar and hill resorts of Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Leh and Kargil in Ladakh region.

He said control rooms will work round the clock till the stabilization of the situation.

All concerned tourists and tourism trade people were informed to contact the telephone numbers for any assistance required, the spokesman said.
