The incident took place near Ganganagar area last evening when the girl, daughter of a retired army officer, was returning home from her computer classes. The accused threw acid on the girl's face and fled the spot.

The victim, an MBA student, was rushed to a hospital immediately and has sustained injuries on her neck, face and hand, police said.

According to police, prima facie it appears to be a case of one sided love.

The parents of the girl have named Prince Kapuriya of Jammu in their complaint, police said, adding the parents revealed the youth was in love with the girl three years ago when the family lived in Jammu.

A case has been registered against the youth and a search is on to nab him, they said.
