"Whatever the matter, it should be sent back to the Election Commission of India to give proper hearing and for passing fresh orders after considering all materials," she said in her letter to the President.

Meanwhile, the President began consultations with legal and constitutional experts over the entire issue.

"The President is examining the whole issue including consultations with legal and constitutional experts," a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said.

Referring to media reports about the Commission's recommendation of her disqualification as she held an office of profit, Bachchan said its "opinion" was given in the absence of the most fundamental document with regard to her appointment as Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Board, which is lying in sealed cover under the orders of the High Court.

"The applicant had moved the High Court for de-sealing of record and for a copy of the said order but appropriate orders of the Court could not be obtained," she said, and pointed out that the office of the chairperson is admittedly not of profit and carries no remuneration or allowances.
