Protesting the resumption of sealing drive in the capital, the JD-U today demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh immediately convene an all-party meeting to tackle the problem.
"The relative calm on the surface should fool nobody. Enforcing rule of law under brute force without tackling underlying causes can be counterproductive and will boomerang," JD-U General Secretary and spokesman Shambhu Shrivastwa said in a statement.
The party said the Centre, Delhi government and MCD should file an affidavit in the Supreme Court clearly admitting their failure to construct sufficient commercial spaces in the city to cater to the requirements.
"They should also notify the new Master Plan immediately taking into consideration the current and future requirements of the city," Shrivastwa said.
"The Congress leaders should make public apology for their failure and the Chief Minister of Delhi should resign to face the people again," he added.
