The Delhi High Court on Friday refrained from granting any immediate relief on an anticipatory bail application moved by Chandigarh-based medical practitioner Dr JS Bedi apprehending arrest for allegedly issuing false medical certificates to one of the accused in the sensational Jessica Lall murder case.

However, Vacation Judge Justice JP Singh, while refraining from passing any order, issued notice to the Delhi police on the application and posted the matter for further hearing to June 14.

In his application, Bedi claimed that he was innocent of the charges levelled against him by the Delhi police.

He further claimed that under Section 340 CrPC, no court in the country had the authority to order an FIR against against an accused without the conduct of a preliminary inquiry into the allegations.
