Students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Thursday decided to continue their hunger strike indefinitely, demanding better financial aid for needy students.

The students claimed they had got no proper response to their memorandum to university vice-chancellor last week. "We have approached University Grants Commission authorities and they are sympathetic to our cause. But they cannot act until there is a formal demand by JNU," said Dhananjay, JNU students union vice-president.
JNU authorities, however, said they recently enhanced the scholarship amount. "If the students want more money, we will have to approach UGC," JNU rector Rajender Prasad said.
