In a letter to Health Secretary Alok Shukla, Renu said she was unable to remain in government service after her husband got injured in a road accident.

"Hence with immediate effect, my resignation letter may please be accepted so that I could discharge my family responsibilities," she said.

Top official sources said that the resigation was submitted on Tuesday and has not yet been accepted.
