Andy Johnson scored an 81st-minute equalizer for Everton to draw 1-1 with Reading in the Premier League on Sunday. Everton defender Joleon Lescott scored an own-goal in the 28th to put Reading 1-0 up at Goodison Park. But Johnson's late header punished a mistake by Royals goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann. Later Sunday, Tottenham hosted Newcastle at White Hart Lane.

Sylvester Stallone, who is in Britain to promote his latest Rocky movie, walked onto Goodison Park wearing an Everton scarf as he was introduced to fans before kickoff. He then saw his team fall behind. Stephen Hunt headed a free kick from Nickey Shorey that was blocked at close range by Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard's legs. But the ball struck Lescott and rebounded inside the post.

Everton almost leveled in the 53rd when Hahnemann failed to reach a cross after leaving his goal, but substitute Victor Anichebe's header was cleared off the line by Ibrahima Sonko. Soon after, Johnson ran onto a through pass and lofted the ball over Hahnemann only for it to go across the face of an empty goal. When Hahnemann again left his goal line, Everton equalized.

Joseph Yobo passed the ball into the area and Johnson leaped high to head it into an empty net with the American goalkeeper stranded. Lee Carsley went close to scoring a winner for Everton in the third minute of injury time when his free kick from two meters outside the area shaved the crossbar.

In Saturday's games, Manchester United beat Aston Villa 3-1 to stay six points ahead of Chelsea, which outplayed Wigan 4-0. Third-place Liverpool won 3-0 at last-place Watford and 10-man Arsenal ended Blackburn's run of four victories in a row with a 2-0 win at Ewood Park.

Other results were: Bolton 0, Manchester City 0; Charlton 1, Middlesbrough 3; Sheffield United 1, Portsmouth 1 and West Ham 3, Fulham 3.
