Terming the party's performance in UP as "surprising and disappointing", Joshi in a statement here said she as the president of the Pradesh unit takes responsibility for the party's poor showing in the Assembly polls.

Congratulating the Samajwadi Party for sweeping the polls in the state, Joshi hoped it would live upto the expectations of the people who have reposed their faith in it by giving a clear mandate.

The UPCC president said her party would play the role of a responsible opposition.
