During the trial, Judge M L Tahaliyani noticed Kasab talking to Ansari and asked him if he wanted to say anything to the court. Kasab stood in the dock and said, "I have stomach ache."

Judge found him smiling and asked him, "Why do you smile if you have stomach-ache? Sit down, you will be alright, otherwise we will call the doctor."

Proceedings then went on in Marathi and Kasab continued smiling. Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam asked the court, "Does he understand Marathi?"

Some days back Kasab had complained that he had headache, but judge had asked him to sit down. Judge had also pulled up Kasab for smiling in the court last week, following which he put on a serious look for a few days.
