The benchmark Sensex crashed below 9,000 points for the first time in six months on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday on heavy selling by funds amid panic-stricken investors offering to 'stop-losses'.

The benchmark Sensex dropped by 413.50 points at 9062.65 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday on foreign as well as domestic funds selling, after touching the day's low of 8993.58.
The National Stock Exchange index Nifty also plunged by 113.55 points to close at 2663.30. However, it had touched a low of 2638.10 during the day.
