THE MEDICAL community observed Doctors? Day with much gusto this Saturday. Several programmes were organised on the occasion. The Samajik Sarokar Manch (SSM) organised a sapling-planting programme outside the Physiology Department at the King George?s Medical University (KGMU) and the Indian Medical Association-Lucknow Chapter felicitated people from different walks of life for their contribution to society.

The Samajik Sarokar Manch (SSM) organised a sapling-planting programme outside the Physiology Department at the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) and the Indian Medical Association-Lucknow Chapter felicitated people from different walks of life for their contribution to society. Dr PK Gupta, co-ordinating the SSM programme said, “Plants are of great worth and each tree is worth more than Rs one crore”.
The IMA-Lucknow Chapter honoured Gyan Prakash (student), Dr SC Nigam (teacher), Brijlal (Director, Traffic), Dr Kalyani Das, NK Gupta (doctors), SP Singh (MLC) and Sunanda (journalist). LMA-Lucknow honorary secretary Dr AM Khan convened the programme at IMA Bhawan. Dr Neeraj Bora and Dr BN Gupta were also honoured on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the president of the unit, Dr Rajendra Prasad said doctors should always be cautious about their work for they are responsible for the lives of their patients and should not forget the Hippocrates’ oath. He said Doctors’ Day is celebrated with an aim to reminding doctors about their duty and responsibility.
A blood-donation camp was also organised at KGMU’s Pathology Department while Dr Batra’s Positive Health Clinic organised a free health check-up & medicine distribution camp.
