AN INSECT on the Kailash (girls) hostel dinner table threw 520-odd girls into a tizzy on Sunday! But, the bug attracted the boys more who didn’t let the opportunity go without raising a hullabaloo over it.

It all started when one of the girls spotted a crawly little bug in the snaky coils of chowmein. Watching the odd thing in the dish, some girls informed their friends outside and the boys decided to take up the matter seriously. They reached the hostel and raised the issue as a matter of neglect by hostel authorities targeting the hostel provost.

The authorities got the gates of the Kailash hostel closed, but the students kept trooping there, shouting slogans for an hour or so.They demanded resignation from the hostel authorities and an apology for negligence that could lead to food poisoning.

The hungama drew hostel provost Dr Nishi Pandey, mess in-charge Shraddha Tiwari and even the vice chancellor to the spot. The V-C himself visited the kitchen and found everything was all right then.

The drama ended and everyone was back in the mess to take the dinner.
“As the girls claimed there was one insect found in the plate. She was served another and everyone was pleased, but the boys wanted to make an issue out of it. And that resulted in a ruckus,” said Dr Pandey.

Interestingly, even after so much of hungama, there were no written complaints from the girls. Even the insect wasn’t found anywhere!
