Prof Samaddar was addressing the valedictory session of three-day international conference on 'Next Generation Communication Systems' organised by JK Institute at SN Ghosh Auditorium.
He said that India should have philosophical leadership and the teachers will have to generate inquisitiveness and interest among the students for research.
In his inspiring speech Prof Samaddar highlighted the different applications of information and communication technology, its advantages and misuse. He said that networking has expanded its sphere from LAN, PAN, WAN, Internet to Inter-Planetary Internet and several universities in Japan, Malaysia and other countries were using Internet at a very high speed.
Prof Samaddar suggested for the use of intelligent objects for education such as digital teaching, virtual campus and production of efficient equipment with quality, accuracy, reliability and low power consumption such as nano-antenna, nano-medical devices and nano-materials.
"The researchers should attempt to develop appropriate technology to offer cheap communication technology for masses. The students should take up challenges despite poor infrastructure and facilities", he concluded.
Earlier General Manager, North Central Railway, Buddh Prakash spoke about the work ethics. He emphasised on the research work which, in many cases, may not give the desired return. He informed the delegates and students about the current scenario of passing on the information in the Indian Railways and the futuristic scenario. He informed the gathering that a 5 GB per second rate of transfer has already been tested by the Railways. Earlier during the ninth and tenth technical sessions, one on Pot Pourri and another on Routing & Switching were held. The invited talk on "Advancements in Microwave Tubes and Future trends" was delivered by Dr SN Joshi from CEERI, Pilani. Five papers were presented by P Govindrajulu from SN University, Chittoor, TC Sharma from National Remote Sensing Agency, Balanagar, Hyderabad, UP Kulkarni from Dharwad, CV Srinivas from Balanagar, Hyderabad and Prof SS Pathak from IIT, Kharagpur.
In the next technical session, papers were presented by VK Verma from IIT, Roorkee, Prof Rajeev Tripathi from MNNIT, Allahabad, FS Ahmad from Bharti Vidyapeeth, Pune, Rajneesh Talwar from Chitkara Institute of Engineering & Technology, Rajpura and Sanjay Kumar from BHU, Varanasi. A panel discussion was held by Ex-Head of the Department, Prof MS Bisht, Prof SS Pathak, Prof KK Bhutani, Buddh Prakash, Prof SN Joshi, and Prof SG Prakash. Prof MS Bisht laid emphasis on knowledge management & proper monitoring of the education system. Prof Samaddar awarded certificates to the participants. HoD Prof SG Prakash proposed the vote of thanks while convenor of the seminar Prof Nar Singh conducted the proceedings of the valedictory session.
