Brimin Kipruto got silver in 8:06.11, and Paul Koech won bronze in 8:06.64. Kemboi waited for his countrymen at the finish line, and the three embraced. They then took a victory lap around the track. Kemboi won silver at the world championships last year after misreading the lap counter, thinking there were two laps remaining instead of five. He also plays forward on his local soccer team. Kipruto, 19, was third at the world junior championships last year, while the 22-year-old Koech won meets in Seville, Rome and Stockholm this year.
