Kerala Governor violated constitution: Vardharajan

CPI(M) leader and State Secretary N Vardharajan on Saturday charged Kerala Governor RS Gavai with having violated the Constitution by sanctioning prosecution of former Kerala Power Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a graft case.
Addressing a demonstration organised by his party here to protest CBI filing a chargesheet against Vijayan,he said legal experts had opined that there was no case against the Kerala CPI(M) leader. Prior to that it had also been proved that there was no case against him, he said.
He said the Governor's action in sanctioning prosecution amounted to 'interfering' with the State's rights.
Later, speaking to reporters, he said the party forum would discuss on June 20 and 21 Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan's comment that there was nothing surprising in the Kerala Governor's decision.
He said the CPI(M) executive committee would decide the stand to be taken for the four by-elections in Tamil Nadu.
The party would welcome development activities in the state, but would not hestitate to oppose bad decisions, he said.
