Kidnapped youth rescued, 6 nabbed

THE SPECIAL Task Force (STF) arrested six gangsters in Raura forest in Datia district and rescued a young man kidnapped from Orccha. The STF rescued Rajiv Sharma (25) s/o Dr Shivnarayan Sharma of Orchha. He was kidnapped from the religious township on December 17 last.

THE SPECIAL Task Force (STF) arrested six gangsters in Raura forest in Datia district and rescued a young man kidnapped from Orccha. The STF rescued Rajiv Sharma (25) s/o Dr Shivnarayan Sharma of Orchha. He was kidnapped from the religious township on December 17 last.

The gangsters had taken away Raju in a Scorpio. It is learnt that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs. 50 lakh from the family of Raju Sharma but the deal was finally struck at Rs. 9.25 lakh, which was to be paid to the gangsters.

The gangsters included Mukesh Yadav, Sunil Yadav, Ramvilas, Gopi Prajapati and Kok Singh Yadav. Rajiv was forcefully lodged into Scorpio jeep from unknown persons as he approached near the jeep while on evening walk. He said he was kept in a house on outskirts of Bahuapura police station under Datia district.

IGP Sanjay Rana informed that Scorpio jeep was intercepted during routine checking by STF and range police near Jeen canal at Tharet village last night. Alarmed by the intense police checking the criminals tried to run away in different direction. However they were soon overpowered by STF and range police force after brief encounter there.

On interrogation they disclosed place of Rajiv's captivity and also handed over cash worth Rs 9.25 lakh. Of the nine involved in the kidnapping case police have so far arrested 6 persons. Search is on to arrest three absconding accomplices of this gang together with remaining ransom booty Rs 4.75 lakh.

They are namely Mukesh Yadav, Ranjit Yadav and Prabhat Yadav. Mukesh is carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his arrest, informed police sources. The criminals were paid Rs 15 lakh by Rajiv's father for his release.
