If Kolkata Knight Riders coach Trevor Bayliss is worried about skipper Gautam Gambhir and Jacques Kallis's lack of form, he isn't showing it.
In the 11 months that have passed since KKR were crowned Indian Premier League champions, Gambhir has lost his place the India team. Kallis, another batting mainstay of KKR, too hasn't scored a lot of late. But Bayliss is confident of a good show from both. "Players like Gambhir or Kallis are very experienced. I'm sure when the time comes, they will show what they are. But at the same time, we also have a very deep squad and a good middle-order so there will be others who will be given responsibility," he said, at the Eden on Thursday.
Asked if Gambhir, who is recovering from mild jaundice, would be fit for the IPL, Bayliss said KKR would start their title defence here on Wednesday against the Delhi Daredevils with Gambhir at the helm.
Bayliss admitted it would be a slightly different IPL this time. "It's a good feeling to be defending champions but there's also extra pressure. The other teams will do anything to beat us but we have to stay on top."
