The activists, who started the fast yesterday, have also threatened to launch rasta-roko, morcha and even resign from Congress if the water problem was not resolved.

Kale, who spearheaded indefinite fast, told reporters at Kopargaon that for the past 20 years Kopargaon taluka was providing revenue of Rs 150 crore but irrigation department has not yet released last phase of 1,682 MCft from Gangapur dam.

He asked the administration to reserve water for drinking purposes from other dams in Nasik and provide the taluka its last phase immediately as farmers have been suffering losses to their crops.

Kale also suggested fifty per cent cut in water supply to Sinnar MIDC to solve the problem.
