As per the tradition, members of Yadav community, known as ?Yadav Bandhu?, took out a religious procession carrying Ganga Jal from Kedar ghat and performed Jalabhishekh in the Kashi Vishwanath temple on Monday morning.

As per the tradition, members of Yadav community, known as ‘Yadav Bandhu’, took out a religious procession carrying Ganga Jal from Kedar ghat and performed Jalabhishekh in the Kashi Vishwanath temple on Monday morning. Heavy police force was escorting the procession.
Devotees, including Kanwariys, coming from far off places of different states have started thronging the city for the last two days to perform Jalabhishek in various temples of Lord Shiva in the city during the holy month of Sawan.
A long queue was evident at ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple from Gaudaulia to Chowk.
The route of entry for the devotees was fixed by the district administration.
Devotees got entry into Kashi Vishwanath Temple from Chatadwar gate and after paying obeisance to Lord Vishwanath, they came out from Saraswati Phatak.
This time, the devotees were frisked at the yellow zone of Gyanwapi Complex at Bansphatak. The city of temple echoed with the traditional slogans of Lord Shiva such as ‘Har Har Mahadeo’, ‘Har Har Bum Bum’, etc.
Elaborate security arrangement was ensured in and around the sensitive Gyanwapi Complex to avoid any untoward incident today. Twenty new spy cameras were installed between Dashashwamedh Ghat and Chowk to monitor the activities of devotees. Senior police officials monitored the situation from the control room of Gyanwapi. The district administration has also set-up 26 new police outposts throughout the city.
For the first time, the administration also deployed NCC volunteers to ensure smooth passage for devotees.
The local traders and members of Civil Defence also assisted the district administration to keep tight vigil.
Besides ancient Kashi Vishwanath temple, the other prominent temples including Banaras Hindu University-based Kashi Vishwanath temple, Kedareshwar Mahadeo, Tilbhandeshwar Mahadeo, Mahamrityunjay Mahadeo temple, Shool Tankeshwar temple, Markandey Mahadeo temple and other temples of Lord Shiva were seen over-crowded with the devotees engaged in performing worship there.
Traffic restrictions were imposed on all routes leading towards the ancient Kashi Vishwanath temple.
