Lalu demands security for people of Bihar in Assam

Lalu also said he would ask the Union home minister to provide additional security forces to the state to handle the situation.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Sunday night strongly condemned the blasts that rocked Guwahati in which Bihari labourers figured among the 12 persons killed and demanded protection for Biharis living in Assam.

"I strongly condemn the blast in which, according to information received by me, 12 people were killed and scores others were injured," Prasad told in Patna.

The RJD leader said he spoke to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and requested him to provide adequate protection to Biharis residing in the state.

He said he would also request the Union home minister to provide additional security forces for the state to effectively handle the situation.

The leader of the Opposition in the Bihar assembly, Rabri Devi, also condemned the blasts.
