Actor Jude Law and Oscar-winning director Anthony Minghella are to honour the 100th anniversary of the playwright Samuel Beckett's birth.

According to Contactmusic.com, Minghella will direct his Cold Mountain star alongside a cast, including Alan Rickman and Lee Evans, in a montage of Beckett excerpts at Reading Town Hall.

But the actual time to rehearse seems to be very limited and the money raised will go toward the Macmillan Cancer Relief.

An insider says: "The cast will be directed by Anthony Minghella and will perform excerpts from Beckett's works. Unfortunately, all the stars won't be able to rehearse together until mid-afternoon. Fortunately, all the actors are real pros."
