Speaking on the occasion, Dube said lawyers and journalists were important pillars of democracy and an attack on them amounted to an attack on democracy. He urged the administration to ensure that Rajesh Misra was arrested soon.

Misra has been at large ever since he attacked some mediapersons a few days ago with a hockey stick, resulting in critical injuries to them. An FIR was lodged against him at the Civil Lines police station, but the accused managed to escape. Since then, he has allegedly been issuing threats to journalists and is even said to have visited his house on a few occasions without being arrested.

Lawyers expressed surprise that despite an assurance by senior police officers, the accused had managed to roam around freely without being noticed by the police, which claimed to be tracking him down.
