Laxmi Bai?s birth anniv celebrated

THE BIRTH anniversary of great warrior of first freedom struggle of the country, Maharani Laxmi Bai, was celebrated here at her birth place in Varanasi on Friday. The celebration wa organised under the joint auspices of Maharani Laxmi Bai Trust and Rashtra Sevika Samiti.

The celebration wa organised under the joint auspices of Maharani Laxmi Bai Trust and Rashtra Sevika Samiti.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Dr Sharad Renu, president of Maharani Laxmi Bai Trust, said that Laxmi Bai fought against the British till her last breath. Dr Renu exhorted the girls to be courageous and a staunch Indian like Laxmi Bai and face problems. 

Secretary of Laxmi Bai Trust, Rajendra Pratap Pandey highlighted the trust’s achievements while Dr Namita Agrawal conducted the programme.

Students of Gopi Radha Balika School rendered a group song, “Koti Koti Kantho Se’ while those of Shishu Mandir presented Yogic asanas. Girls of Harish Chandra Balika Inter College staged a play  ‘Bharat Uday Jhansi Ki Rani Ka’ which was followed by a dance item.

Similarly, volunteers of Rashtra Sevika Samiti and school girls demonstrated Yogic asanas and several skills of self-defence by using cane, sword etc.
