The affidavits submitted along with poll application forms showed that many leaders did not own any cars.

Among them are Leader of Opposition Jagdish Mukhi, former Delhi BJP chief Mange Ram Garg, Mehrauli MLA Brahm Singh Tanwar and party candidate from Gole Market Poonam Azad.

According to Azad, her husband Kirti Azad owns a Mahindra jeep whose value was around Rs 11,472. Mukhi said he didn’t need his own car as he has been using his official car for 10 years.

All of them, however, have movable and immovable property worth several lakh of rupees. The total value of Garg's property including cash is over Rs 70 lakh. Tanwar's property is worth 30 lakh though he has an outstanding loan of Rs 28 lakh. Mukhi and his wife owns a flat each in Janakpuri and Gurgaon, which are together valued at around Rs 22 lakh.

Delhi BJP chief Madan Lal Khurana is an exception. He owns a 1998 model Cielo.

According to returning officer of Moti Nagar constituency Bhagmal Jain, Most of Khurana's assets are in the name of his wife, Raj Khurana.

These include movable assets of Rs 3.66 lakh and a house in Kirti Nagar worth Rs 45 lakh. Khurana has 120 gm jewellery, bank deposits of Rs 11.88 lakh and other assets worth Rs 87,000. He also has four cases pending against him, the returning officer said.
