UPTU V-C Prof Prem Vrat urged the students to lay emphasis on experimentation and making projects, as it would help them learn the basics of science and technology.
Speaking at the valedictory function of the two-day science fair organised by Regional Science Center (RSC) on Friday, Prof Vrat urged the students to remember that excellence was the key to success.
Around 170 students from 20 schools took part in the programme. Around 80 science projects were on display.
UPTU V-C gave away prizes to meritorious students. In the individual projects category that carried a cash award of Rs 1000, Ashish Saroj of New Way School, sector K Aliganj was ranked first for his project on ‘soil chemistry.’
The second prize went to Siddharth Singh of Lucknow Public School, LDA, Kanpur Road, for his model on ‘accident-free electro locomotive.’ Himanshu of CMS Station Road got the third prize for his model on ‘theories of general prediction.’
The first prize went to Akansha Singh and Anant Agarwal of CMS Station Road, Lucknow for their model on ‘Eco-friendly inventions’ while the second prize went to Saumya Singh and Megha Paliwal of New Way School, Aliganj for their ‘models on role of kitchen garden in medicinal plants.’
Nirmal Kumar, a teacher of Lucknow Public School, sector D, LDA Colony, Kanpur Road was also awarded.
The winners of individual and team projects have been selected for zonal-level science fair that would be held at the National Science Centre, New Delhi.
S Kumar, project coordinator, RSC Lucknow, National Council of Science Museums organided science fairs.
