The 25-acre garden in Sector 29 would get six 20-metre-high solar-powered LED lights. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has planned to replace the 24 sodium vapour lamps at the park at present since they fail to provide adequate light.
Huda administrator Praveen Kumar has sanctioned funds for the facelift.
The move will make the park visitor-friendly for residents who come here in large numbers daily, till the facility closes at 8pm. Despite an investment of R73 lakh on musical fountains that attracts many visitors, dark spots at a few points and reports of crime had led to a dip in the footfall.
Talking about Huda's plan, executive engineer Arun Dhankhar said, "We want this park to be a comfortable spot for visitors at night too. Our aim is to beautify it in all respect".
The new lights, which consume less electricity, will be installed at the three entry/exit gates and near the fountain.
Recently, two such lights had already been relocated to the park from Bristol Chowk and Golf Course Road following a change in traffic plans.
