They were convicted of killing one Rameshwar, Chetrani and Girish Chandra Srivastava at Budhai Ka Baag on February 10, 1981, claiming that they were dacoits.
Father of Girish had approached the Home Ministry, which ordered a CID probe into the "encounter". Twenty policemen were chargesheeted, however, six of them died during the tendency of the case.
