Lightning kills at least seven in Bangladesh

At least thirteen others were wounded when violent thunderstorms struck northern districts of Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Gaibandha.

At least seven people were killed and 13 wounded in lightning amid violent storms in Bangladesh's northern districts of Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Gaibandha on Thursday.

Dinajpur was the worst hit by the thunderstorm as four people were killed and 13 other injured in the district in separate lightning incidents.

A pair of buffaloes also died in Birol sub-district, struck by the lightning during rainfall accompanied with gusty wind.

In Thakurgaon, two people were killed and another was injured as lightning flashed on them in Haripur sub-district at about 1630 hrs (Local Time).

In Gaibandha, a young man died from lightning during storms that lashed five of its sub-districts on Thursday.
