Live bomb defused near LoC in J-K

Army on Sunday averted a major tragedy as it defused a live bomb at village Wandoo near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of North Kashmir, police said.

Army on Sunday averted a major tragedy as it defused a live bomb at village Wandoo near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of North Kashmir, police said.

An old live shelling bomb was found lying in Wandoo area of Keran, 120 kms from Srinagar. It was defused on the spot by the army's 12th Mahar regiment thus avoiding a major tragedy, the police said.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered some arms and ammunition from a forward post in Uri sector of Baramulla district.

Troops of Jammu and Kashmir light infantry recovered one AK 47 rifle, its two magazines and 58 rounds, five 7.62 mm pistols, with its ten magazines, 78 rounds from the forward post Kamal Koot area in the jurisdiction of police station Uri, 100 kms from Srinagar, the police said.
