Following their complaint, officials of the state pollution control department inspected the plant and asked the management to take steps to control the foul smell from the facility. Residents have been objecting to the heaps of garbage outside the premises of the plant.
"We have issued strict instructions to the management to keep the garbage heaps and trucks always covered so as to prevent pollution," said Dr Pradeep Yadav, regional officer (RO) state pollution control board, Gurgaon.
The plant is located off Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. "The plant has been polluting air and water. The samples collected from nearby borewells showed that the water was contaminated," said the RO. "There is no doubt that water contamination is due to poor management of the waste."
