Loud explosion at Farooq Abdullah's Srinagar rally

A loud sound was heard at Srinagar's Khanyar area on Sunday where National Conference (NC) parliament candidate Farooq Abdullah was scheduled to address a public rally as part of the poll campaign.

A loud sound was heard at Srinagar's Khanyar area on Sunday where National Conference (NC) parliament candidate Farooq Abdullah was scheduled to address a public rally as part of the poll campaign.

Police spokesman, while confirming said, "There has been a loud sound. We are checking it."

Eyewitnesses said a grenade was thrown at the Khanyar park where Abdullah, contesting from Srinagar constituency, was holding his rally.

Meanwhile, chief minister Omar Abdullah, also refuted that there was any blast. "The election rally continues without disturbance and the police are working to ascertain the source of the noise that was heard," tweeted Abdullah.
