Made to clean school toilets, girl commits suicide in UP

A teenager in Uttar Pradesh has committed suicide after her school principal ordered her to clean the toilets in the school, according to media reports.

She was made to clean toilets everyday.

Her younger brother, who studies at the same school, said she was also asked to remove dog excreta.

Rajesh Pawar, the principal, had allegedly asked Laxmi's mother, Reena, a daily wage labourer, to clean the school toilets on a monthly salary of Rs 1000, reports said.

But, when she refused, he threatened to charge Laxmi's mother for education whose school fee had been waived off by the local officials.
